"ETs"
“ETs” is the name given to a group of church members who undertook a year’s preparation and training to build them up in some particular roles of ministry within the congregation and parish. What does it stand for? Perhaps “encourage them” would be the best reading, for the ETs have a role not only to be movers and shakers themselves but to enable others to use their gifts and abilities.
ETs have a contribution to make in the three leading areas of the church’s life
- finding joy and strength in the worship of God
- building our fellowship around the gifts of faith, hope and love
- doing all we can in word and action, so that God’s goodness can be known by anyone and anywhere
Thus ETs involve both themselves and others in the worship activities of the congregation, whether on a Sunday or midweek; in supporting and strengthening opportunities for fellowship and care, amongst many different age groups and constituencies; and in taking a lead in projects of Christian work and witness which engage not just the congregation but the wider community, both locally and further afield.
The one thing ETs are not set up to be is an “elite team”! Rather, it is an avenue of service which has opened to those who have felt led to commit to it.
The Coordinator is Eileen Ardern.
