Sunday for Children

Children are very much part of the church family at Crown. It is wonderful to see very young babies are brought to worship and to have the youngest children also able to play and sleep in the Crèche that we have every Sunday morning. For those in the early stages of education, pre-school and early school years, the downstairs Hall is the venue for activities of learning and worshipping together. For those in upper primary years, they meet in the upstairs Hall. For those of secondary age, there is “Cloud Ten”, again seeking to engage young people at their stage of life in exploring and celebrating the possibilities which faith opens up.

However, we are keen not entirely to segregate the young and those not so young! It is great to have all ages together in our church worship. Normally on a Sunday that happens at least for the opening part of the service, including a slot for “Talking and praying all together”, where the theme or readings of the day are taken up in ways that children can get hold of.  Periodically we also have All-age worship, especially around major festivals in the church year, and also through the school summer holiday period, when there is an All-age service every week at 9.30 am.

Children commonly assemble with their friends in the various Halls venues and come into the church. However, some families will prefer to sit together, and indeed even the children to stay through the whole morning service. There are tables in the sanctuary with a ready supply of books and pens and paper for times when interest needs to be kindled!

Teenagers also meet frequently on Sunday evenings in “CYGnet”, our church youth group. They, and sometimes the younger children too, are regularly given opportunities to help in the leading of worship.
