Communications Review

I have been asked by the Session to review how effective the church and its organisations are at keeping members, visitors and the wider community up to date with each other and what Crown Church does. During the summer months over coffee between the services we held “listening”  sessions to seek views and opinions and to learn how we might improve. I would like to thank all who contributed and invite anyone who would still like to comment to contact me by phone, email or in person. The review will be discussed by the Kirk Session and information about the findings and agreed actions will be published later.              John Grieve

Holiday Club –Isn’t Life Amazing?

Holiday Club 2010 was a non-stop exploration of amazing things. The children worked on friezes illustrating the breadth of Creation as described in Psalm 104, sang songs exuberantly with appropriate actions and accompanied by some of our talented teenagers on piano, guitar and flute, shared their own most amazing thing, learned about insects and reptiles, were intrigued by juggling and magic tricks, danced through keep fit, played football, baked cakes, produced a huge variety of crafts, and turned the mountain of junk into impressive models.
63 children and 14 teenage helpers consumed 300 packets of crisps, a mountain of fruit and drank rivers of juice. Grateful thanks to the teenagers who led the groups each day, those few dedicated grannies and mums who made it all possible, and particularly to Peter, Katharina and Ann.                       E.Ardern

Harvest 2010

We will be happy to support the Highland Food Bank appeal at our Harvest service this year, which asks that Crown Church contributes

  • bags of rice
  • tinned fruit
  • tinned tuna or salmon
  • tinned ham

If you can, do bring one or more of these items for the Harvest Thanksgiving service which is on 3rd October.
Thank you.

The Creche

On behalf of the parents of younger children at Crown Church I would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Shona Brooman. Shona has efficiently organised a Creche rota for the last four (or more) years, allowing parents to attend church knowing that children are safely cared for. Thanks Shona.
The creche relies on people’s kindness in volunteering to take a turn to look after the children. We could really do with a few more volunteers to take a turn regularly and if you could help I would love to hear from you. At the moment most folk take a turn every six or seven weeks. The more volunteers we have, the less frequently we all have to take our turn. Each volunteer requires to complete a Disclosure Scotland form to join the rota, but this is quite straightforward.
There is often a mix of ages in creche from babes-in-arms to 3 or 4 year olds and sometimes during the school holidays a few of primary school age. There is a selection of toys, books and jigsaws to entertain the kids and we meet in the coffee lounge during the 11am service.
If you would like to help please contact the church office.                            Jane Smith
