Choir

The choir has been going for many years. We have about 16 members and we aim to sing something every Sunday. We sing music from classical to modern, Mozart to African worship songs. We are always open to new members and are extremely friendly, caring people with great enthusiasm for singing, music, church worship and for socialising. Practises are on Thursdays at 7 pm in the Small Hall.

I aim to cover a wide repertoire of choral music with the choir, ranging from modern arrangements of modern worship songs to tried and tested favourites. The choir has started practising music for Easter and we are working on a very varied selection including “Drop, drop slow tears”, the sacred madrigal by Orlando Gibbons and a modern arrangement of a setting of the Alleluia by William Boyce. There is to be an ecumenical service at the Old High Church on the evening of Palm Sunday, for which we are practising Surely He Hath Borne our Griefs from Handel’s Messiah for a combined choir on the night. I hope some of you will want to go that service. We hope to be able to include this lovely chorus by Handel in our own worship during Lent.

The choir is always ready to welcome new members; all you need is a desire to worship in song.
