Crown Church Band
Crown Church Band is a wind band that plays a wide range of music, from modern shows, marches and to religious. Practices are on Mondays at 7 pm and beginners and experienced players are all welcome.
We play at events that we are invited to, e.g. at the Tattoo, the Marymas fair or in the summer in Bellfield Park. We also visit residential homes and play in church services.

The Crown Church Band was awarded a Silver Medal at the recent Bands’ Festival held on Saturday 21 November 2009 in Millburn Academy. This was the first local Band Festival and the band hopes to enter again next year.
The Crown Church Band was formed in December 1985 and was the brainchild of Willie Wilson, an elder of Crown Church. He promised that he would teach anybody who wished to play any wind instrument. The first three recruits, all members of Crown Church were absolute beginners. Nevertheless his goal for the band was to perform in public. The membership of the band is now around 30, ably led by the conductor Bob Forsyth and his deputy Steve Coventry. The instruments range from piccolo and flute to tuba. At present we lack a regular drummer. New members are always welcomed. We are always happy to play religious music but our repertoire includes classical music, marches, folk music, jazz, mild rock and music from the shows.
For many years we have played at the Inverness Tattoo before the opening. We have played for many charitable events in and around Inverness but as far afield as Ullapool. Small groups from the band play in residential homes etc. We have played in the Aircrew Memorial Bandstand in Bellfield Park regularly in each of the four summer months raising money for charity. The band has also accompanied the singing at Church services.
The band is now practising for all the Christmas engagements which will include Marks and Spencer 12 Dec 2 – 4, carol services in Trinity Church Tuesday 15 Dec at 7.30 and St Michael’s Church Thursday 17 Dec at 7.30, a wedding and the Crown Church Watch Night Service.
The practice is held on Monday night from 7pm until 9pm. Linda Moncur
